about Roxanne Rosewood:

My passions

I have always been fascinated by the intricacies of human behavior and how we interact with each other. This led me to pursue a degree in psychology, where I learned about various theories and techniques that can help individuals understand and manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

My first job

During my studies, I took on a role as an early childhood educator, which allowed me to put my knowledge into practice and make a real difference in the lives of children and families.

My people skills and dedication to my work soon led to opportunities for advancement, and I eventually moved up the ranks to become a vice principal.

However, I soon realized that my earning potential was limited in the education sector, so I decided to take on a new challenge by moving into business development.

I am sure many people can relate to the feeling of being limited in their earning potential in their current job or industry. Just like me, you may be looking for new challenges and opportunities to increase your income and grow professionally. Moving into a new field or profession can be a bold and exciting step toward achieving these goals.

I leveraged my skills in psychology and education to help companies create and implement strategies that would improve their performance and growth. In my role as a business development professional, I quickly realized that the products and services I was selling were not aligned with my values. I found myself promoting products that I didn’t believe in, and that I felt were not addressing the real problems that people were facing. I felt like I was simply chasing profit, rather than making a positive impact on the world.

This inner conflict made me question my career choices, and I soon realized that I wanted to do something more meaningful and fulfilling.

Switching careers into uX Design

I was determined to find a way to combine my passion for psychology with my desire to help others in a more impactful way. So, I decided to take a step back and reassess my goals and values. I started to explore new career paths and opportunities, and soon discovered the field of User Experience (UX) Design and was immediately drawn to it. I saw it as a way to use my understanding of human behavior and psychology to create products and services that truly met the needs and desires of users.

How I got started in UX design

To pursue this new interest, I joined a user experience boot camp at General Assembly, where I received intensive training in the fundamentals of UX design and research. I was challenged to think creatively and critically about the user experience, and I learned how to conduct user research, create prototypes, and validate designs through testing and iteration.

Since completing the boot camp, I have been working as a practicing UX consultant for the past 5 years. I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from designing mobile apps and websites to creating products that solve complex problems in healthcare, finance, and education.

Through my work as a UX consultant, I have been able to use my passion for psychology and my commitment to making a positive impact to help create products that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also intuitive, user-friendly, and impactful.

I am proud to be part of a field that is constantly evolving offering many opportunities for personal and professional growth. In addition to my work as a UX consultant, I also actively participate in the UX community. I attend conferences and events and regularly engage with other UX professionals to share knowledge and exchange ideas. I believe that collaboration and continuous learning are essential to staying ahead in this rapidly changing field.

why i started theRoxannePerspective blog by roxanne rosewood

As someone who has seen the positive impact that education can have on individuals and communities, I am thrilled to be launching this blog in this field. My goal is to provide useful knowledge and resources to anyone who wants to further their education and profession. I understand that starting a blog, or any other type of business, can be intimidating. At times, I may feel that I lack the necessary experience, education, or confidence to begin. But I also know that, regardless of my history or credentials, I can overcome those sentiments and achieve my ambitions.

One of the reasons I created this blog was to share the information and tactics I’ve learned from my own experiences in the hope that it may help others overcome their own obstacles and accomplish their objectives. Whether you are a professional wanting to change careers or an individual seeking personal development, this blog will provide you with a wealth of knowledge and effective suggestions.

I am also committed to giving back to the community and helping others who are just starting out on their UX journey. I mentor young designers on the ADPList and enjoy working with organizations that are working to make a positive impact on the world. I feel it is important to not only pursue my own goals and aspirations but also to help others.

Looking back on my journey so far, I am proud of all that I have accomplished and all that I have learned. I never imagined that my fascination with human behavior and my desire to help others would lead me down such a fulfilling and impactful career path. I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, and I am excited about what the future holds. I know that there will be challenges and obstacles along the way, but I am confident that my background in psychology and my commitment to making a positive impact will continue to serve me well as I continue to grow and evolve as a UX designer and researcher.

Cheers,

Roxanne
